Fethyie was once the Lycian settlement of Telmessos. Now a lively port and market town, it is a place where Turkish life and tourism exist side by side.

The bustling waterfront is the place to watch traditional Gulets, motor launches and fishing boats. Water-sports facilities are available at nearby Calis Beach.

Should you wish to do a spot of shopping, in the old port area of "paspatur" you will find a colourful assortment of goods ranging from hand-crafted jewellery to aromatic herbs and spices. The Market Place in the centre of the town abounds with stores offering fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy products as well as local crafts. If your interest lies more in history, you will find the ancient rock tomb of king Amyntas a fascinating place to visit.
